I would just like to get some feedback from players from all over. I am over 65 and a 5.0 player. I had an extensive tennis background which gave me an advantage when I took up pickleball exclusively. I have played PB in 10 states with with a wide range of skills. In these situations,… Continue reading Sharing my Facebook post about Pickleball

Pickleball Strategies
What a concept of Strategies, plural, verses Strategy, singular. The better players have different strategies which involve working with your strengths and weaknesses. Why teach a 2.5 to 3.0 player to ALWAYS go up to the NVZ line when the opponent is a 4.0 player with a hard drive? Why tell 70+ year olds to… Continue reading Pickleball Strategies
Recreational Play
Recreational play should be different than competitive tournaments. When there is a mixed level of players, it is certainly more social to slow the pace down to weaker opponents to give them a fair chance of returning your shots. To hit every shot hard and to the weaker player just ends the point quickly. The… Continue reading Recreational Play
Share the ball to all players
My words of wisdom when playing recreational games: To the better players, reset the point and work on placement verses hitting winners. Really good players can extend the point to have longer rallies. Hit the ball to challenge your opponents without hitting it so hard that it doesn’t give your opponent a chance on returning the ball.… Continue reading Share the ball to all players
2018 Nationals
From Gregg Whitfield – The Nationals are being played in Indian Wells at an incredible facility. 2500 players and watching the top pros up close is great. Won the Bronze in the 65+ 5.0 division.
2019 Nationals
From Gregg Whitfield – The PB Nationals are now held at the highly acclaimed Indian Wells facility, which is the second largest tennis-specific stadium in the world. I was able to play with great partners and win Gold Medals in Men’s and Mixed and a Silver in another Men’s Doubles event. Winning at this level is a dream… Continue reading 2019 Nationals
The Beginning of Pickleball
The founders of pickleball started with some basic rules: 1. The server gets one serve and it must be underhand. 2. The ball must bounce 2 times before a volley can be hit. 3. There is a 7 foot No Volley Zone. Why? Because they wanted a fun sport to get players of all ages… Continue reading The Beginning of Pickleball
Ball Control
The placement of your shots is a result of 4 factors: PACE HEIGHT ANGLE SPIN All shots that you hit should have a target area taken into account. These target areas, or places on your opponent’s side of the court, are hit by controlling the Angle, Pace, Height, and Spin. For example, your serve must be hit diagonally… Continue reading Ball Control
Western Regionals
From GW – Western Regionals in Claremont had over 700 entrees. Big tournament because it is a qualifier for the 2019 Nationals and Gold medal winners get to pre register for the Nationals. That’s good because I won the trifecta, Singles, Mixed, and Men’s Doubles in the 60+, 5.0 divisions.
West Regionals-2019-Fountain Valley
From Gregg Whitfield – The West Regionals are a qualifying tournament for the 2020 Nationals and winning the Gold guarantees your registration. I was asked to play with two of the top players in the 65+ Men’s and Mixed which is a major accomplishment in itself. Roxanne Pierce was on the USA gymnastic Olympic team… Continue reading West Regionals-2019-Fountain Valley
